A paediatrics Thursday is not an internal-medicine Thursday. The delay is not only traffic. The child slept in, or the fever started at dawn, or the other sibling now has to come too. The call arrives half an hour before the slot. Reception either crosses it out with a pen, or says “come and we’ll fit you in”, and the waiting room becomes a pile.
Change the appointment itself, while she is still on the phone
If the time moves, it moves on the appointment, and a reminder goes out with the new time. The people after it are not dragged forward unless there is a real gap. A vaccination has a duration and a doctor, and it does not get squeezed between two late visits because “we’ll manage”.
Elite Care lets reception change the time with the reason visible: the family asked to postpone. The doctor sees the new list before starting, not the 7:30 printout. If there is no gap, waiting becomes an actual list, not a verbal promise at the door.
A mother who arrives at 10 and finds she is at 11:15 because she was “fitted in” is less angry about the delay than about nobody telling her while she was still in the car.
